Michael Adams is a subtle cultural producer working in the margins, focusing on hybridization and gradations of change. It is work that emphasizes interaction between opposing ideas and exploring how they resonate. Seeming dichotomies are often shown to be false under the cloak of transparency and contradictions become interesting when seen to be altruistic from an objective standpoint. Primarily a painter, he finds printmaking to be a useful way of exploring the interaction of techniques. This can then be utilized as a means to distinguish between planes of thought. From California originally and currently living in Brooklyn, his work has been informed by the L.A. post-conceptual school.
